Gen One Toyota 4 Runner

I'm stupid.

That's right, and I like to buy old cars and if I didn't already have two and live in an apartment, my stupidity would demand this purchase.

Long before SUV's were all the rage, Toyota nailed it with this one. A multi-passenger convertible 4x4 truck, that was a good size for trails and looked great too. Backed up by the legendary Hi-Lux platform, there was no doubt it would be one tough hombre.

I've owned several Toyota trucks over the years but never a four runner and have a huge soft spot in my heart for gen one runners. Would love to strip this down, clean it up, small lif and some 33's and call it a day.

Ogre Obsession, Scale RC Jeep YJ

I love Jeep Wranglers.

My hobby since I was a kid has been building radio controlled cars and trucks. Most of my models are Tamiya 1/10 scale that are heavily modified. Materials used range from brass and steel, styrene sheets and rods or anything that can be found and adapted. There are also companies like RC4WD that make a range of scale aftermarket parts like wheels, tires, axles, transmissions, transfer cases and so on for custom builders like myself.

This is a 1/10 scale replica of a early 90's YJ that I have been working on for over two years and close to 600+ hrs.




I started with a Tamiya ABS resin shell and hacked it all up.

Dash and floor came next.

Lots of details and body work.

I love off road trucks.


I can also say that I always despised the Suzuki Samurai. When they were first released I had a few friends that owned them and they were uncomfortable, always seemed to leak directly on me when it rained and something was always breaking. Although I loved the idea of a cheap little Jeepish 4x4, it really just seemed cheap in the quality department.

Fast forward to the modern era of endless off road components with the strength and quality to handle the most demanding trails. With the proper mods, the Sami all of a sudden is a pretty capable little rig, and perfectly sized for tight places.

Over the past couple of years I have seen a few of these reborn and have to say, I kind of dig them.
